The LH - Using Spinning Arm Circles

If an arm or wrist circle is not exactly coordinated, it will be more of a hindrance than a help. In this video I show you how to propel the arm upwards and around from the 5th finger, the arm coming up as (and not before) the 5th finger plays. This leads to a series of self-perpetuating movements that feel easy, natural and flowing. When making arm circles, we allow the thumb to come back in towards the hand as we move toward the 5th finger, so the thumb does not assume a stretched-out position. I look at some fingering issues in the LH, and how using the 4th finger in certain places (rather than the 3rd) can help us avoid cramping and stretching in the hand.
