Christmas Music by the Masters
14 Dec 2023 @ 17:00 GMT
Did you know that Liszt included a beautiful and accessible arrangement of In dulci jubilo in his Christmas Tree Suite, or that Brahms penned a gorgeous chorale prelude on Lo, how a Rose e'er blooming?
What about Rebikov's touching Christmas Tree Waltz or Reger's Weihnachtstraum, a tender arrangement of Silent Night? We all know who St. Nicholas is but did you know that he had a companion who meted out punishment to naughty children called Knecht Ruprecht ("Knight Rupert")?
Join Fred Karpoff for a dynamic workshop on these and other seasonal piano pieces by Daquin, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Grainger, Rebikov and more. Most of these works can be played and studied by intermediate pianists but selections will range from elementary through to early advanced works.
