ABRSM 2025 & 2026 Syllabus - Repertoire Showcase

The new ABRSM piano examination syllabus for 2025 & 26 is now available! As with previous syllabuses, we will be creating a collection of resources featuring walk-throughs of repertoire selections from all grades. In the meantime, Graham Fitch will be presenting a set of online workshops as a preview in which he will give insights on learning, interpreting and practising pieces from elementary, intermediate and advanced grades.

Workshop sessions & content

The workshops are divided into three separate sections (all times are listed in London / British Summer Time) featuring the following works:

  • Elementary (Initial – Grade 3) – Wednesday 2nd Oct @ 17:00 – 18:15
    • Sarah Watts: The Wibbly Waltz
    • Edmund Jolliffe: In the Dead of Night
    • Handel (arr. Bullard): Fireworks Minuet (from Music for the Royal Fireworks, HWV 351)
    • Amit Anand: Cyberspace Detective
    • Beethoven: Moderato (1st mvt from Sonatina in G, Anh 5/1)
    • Barbara Arens: Sparkling Splashes & Smooth Water
    • Köhler: Allegro moderato (1st mvt from Sonatina in G, Op. 300 No.93)
    • Mélanie Bonis: Douce Amie
  • Intermediate (Grades 4 - 6) – Wednesday 2nd Oct @ 18:30 – 20:00
    • Benda: Allegro assai (3rd mvt from Sonata in G)
    • Raymond Yiu: Canzonetta
    • Burgmüller: Tarantella: No. 20 from 25 études faciles et progressives, Op. 100
    • Schubert: Waltz in B Minor (No. 6 from Waltzer, Ländler und Ecossoisen, D. 145)
    • JS Bach: Invention No. 14 in Bb, BWV 785
    • Komitas Vardapet: Shushiki (No. 4 from Dances)
  • Advanced (Grades 7 & 8) - Friday 4th Oct @ 17:00 - 18:30
    • Benda: Allegro assai (3rd mvt from Sonata in G)
    • Raymond Yiu: Canzonetta
    • Burgmüller: Tarantella: No. 20 from 25 études faciles et progressives, Op. 100
    • Schubert: Waltz in B Minor (No. 6 from Waltzer, Ländler und Ecossoisen, D. 145)
    • JS Bach: Invention No. 14 in Bb, BWV 785

These sessions will be particularly useful for exam candidates and teachers, but also of interest to any pianists looking for repertoire ideas using the syllabus as a guide. As with all of our online workshops, the sessions will be recorded therefore you can watch the recordings at your convenience even if you can't join us live!
