A Guide to the Trinity College Piano Syllabus (2018 - 2020)

Camidge - Scherzando (2nd mvt from Sonata no. 1 in G major)

Matthew Camidge was an English composer, a contemporary of Mozart. The Scherzando in G is a worthy example of Classical period music, a light-natured piece full of melodic embellishments, opportunities for variety in phrase shaping, articulation and dynamic colouring – at the performer’s choice. There is even a short cadenza written in free notation. In this video I demonstrate solutions for the fast repeated notes we find in the B section, and show how to use forearm rotation for the figuration that calls for it.
