Modern schools

As pianos got bigger and heavier, and the music written for the piano more and more difficult, old ways of playing simply didn’t work any longer. Modern schools of piano playing show us that technique is not located in the muscles, but in the central nervous system. Complex movements in pieces cannot be mastered by practising gymnastic exercises, rather that technical practice must always be joined to musical practice (interpretation).
