The Exercises of Peter Feuchtwanger

Exercise No. 4

Ricochet

Imagine a stone skimming across the surface of a lake as you repeat the C with different fingers. One throw takes in the 6 notes of each group. Allow the finger that has just played to pass along the keyboard, retaining the flat finger approach (no curling in of the fingers towards the palm). As in previous exercises, make sure the arm hangs passively from the holding finger (in this case the thumb). As you get comfortable with this exercise, you will be able to repeat the note without allowing the key to come fully back to the key surface.
